The weather outside may be frightful, but that isn’t stopping Niantic from offering a special Community Day Weekend for Pokemon GO. In the most recent information on the event, players can expect to see far more shiny Pokemon out there in the wild than they ordinarily would.
Although an increase in shiny Pokemon appearances was announced when Niantic unveiled Pokemon GO‘s
Community Weekend event, it was unclear how long the rate would last.
Initially, players suspected that the window would be for a mere three
hours, as many of the planned bonuses for the Community Weekend will
only last that long. Thankfully, Niantic has now clarified the issue
with a tweet, explaining that an increased number of shiny form Pokemon
will appear over the course of the entire weekend.
It’s a good time to get outside and catch Pokemon, providing that the
player isn’t living in a frozen tundra already. The Community Day
Weekend will offer increased spawns, shinies, twice as much capture EXP,
Stardust, and will double the hatching speed of Pokemon eggs. Pokemon
that were previously available during Community events will also appear
in the wild, and new Field Research tasks will also be available during
the celebration. And of course, players who are happy with their new
team additions can transfer Pokemon to Pokemon Let’s Go, if desired.
Although it’s not the best time to head outdoors for much of the
Northern Hemisphere, a new feature is coming that may allow players to
play while sheltered indoors, too. Niantic is finally bringing Pokemon trainer battles
to the game, although the developer still hasn’t provided an exact date
for when the feature will launch. However, the company previously
hinted at aiming for this feature to go live in 2018, so its release
date may be just around the corner.
Anyone who plays Pokemon GO
can participate in this event, but players will need to prepare to make
the most of this Community Weekend. Certain bonuses and spawn rates
will only increase during three hour windows, which vary depending on
the area the player is in. With little time left to get ready, check out
Game Rant’s guide to Pokemon GO‘s Community Weekend.
